Last September 11, 2023, the Naga City People’s Council was invited to attend the Mainstreaming the National Inquiry on Climate Change Report, a seminar discussing the landmark inquiry by the Commission on Human Rights which made an impact on the international discussion on climate justice. Held in the Ateneo de Naga University, this seminar is in partnership with Greenpeace Philippines, Climate Action and Human Rights Institute, and the ADNU College of Law.

The focal point of the seminar was the groundbreaking inquiry on climate change – titled National Inquiry on Climate Change Report – which is considered to be one of the most important documents right now for climate justice. This document’s importance and impact was discussed in the seminar, alongside current developments and strategies for climate change litigation.

The Naga City People’s Council was able to ask some questions towards the panelists about the roles of different sectors in the development of climate justice defense, highlighting the representatives from the Women’s and BPC sector that participated in the seminar.
